Where do the dogs get walked?

Our dog clients enjoy a range of beautiful locations, such as local bush reserves, nature trails parks, and quieter beaches with fewer dogs and regulations. We start our app timer at the walking destination, instead of when we pick up your dog from home.

(Local Lap timer is started from the home)

How long does my dog get walked for?

At Luka Dog Walks, we’re focused on quality and fairness — so your dog always receives the full

30 minute "turbo ramble" or "solo burst" or 60 minutes "trail trek" ramble or "solo grand"  of walking from the adventure location, not from the moment we collect them.
We use a GPS-tracked timer that starts and stops on-site, ensuring you get transparency and your dog gets the adventure you're paying for.

Because pick-up, travel, and settling time are additional, your dog is in our care for longer than the walk duration — making this a fuller, more enriching experience than a simple neighbourhood walk.

3

How many dogs do you take in your small groups?

We typically walk two to three dogs at a time and occasionally up to four. It's important that all dogs get along, are social, and can walk well, whether on or off lead. To participate in our “Adventure Ramblers” small group walks, dogs need to be good walkers with dependable recall and must not pull or lag on their leads.

4

Do you still walk my dog if it is raining?

Yes, we still walk in the rain! We kindly ask that you equip your dog with a good, dry, and weatherproof jacket for those wetter days. We aim to walk in more sheltered areas like thicker bushes or under shop eaves. On rainy days, the walks may be a bit shorter, but we often offer slightly longer walks on nicer days to balance it.

5

Will my dog have the same walker every time?

You will be assigned a "Primary Walker" for your dog, and we'll go over the details during the complimentary consultation. If your Primary Walker is unavailable, another nearby walker will take over. While dogs often form attachments to their regular walkers, having a reliable backup is beneficial. We’ll keep you informed of any changes, and you can check the details in your client portal.

7

What depicts the criteria for my dog being a good fit for your dog walking company?

Dogs best suited to our services are comfortable walking in public spaces, manageable on lead, and able to remain reasonably calm around everyday distractions, including other dogs and people. While we’re happy to walk active and enthusiastic dogs, a basic foundation of lead manners and impulse control is required. Dogs showing ongoing aggression, significant reactivity, or requiring behavioural rehabilitation may not be suitable at this time.

6

What are my options for scheduling dog walks with you?

Lil Luka Dog Walks offers an online scheduler for established clients to create profiles and submit service requests. You can set a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule, or use our services as needed, subject to confirmation. All services are available only to clients who have met us in person. We aim to complete dog walks within a 2-3 hour window. We cannot offer specific timing requests.

Why do I need a consultation and assessment walk?

Our complimentary consultation with Billy is the first step in getting to know you, your dog, and what you're looking for from Lil Luka. It's an opportunity to discuss your dog's needs, your routines, our services, and any questions you may have before moving forward.

Once you've decided Lil Luka is the right fit, we'll arrange an Assessment Walk with your local primary walker. This is an important part of our onboarding process and allows your dog to meet their walker, while we learn more about their personality, walking style, behaviour, and individual needs in a real-world setting.

The Assessment Walk also gives us the opportunity to go over important safety information, access arrangements, keys, and any specific instructions relating to your dog.

We believe this approach gives you the best introduction to Lil Luka — you get to speak directly with Billy first, and then meet the friendly local walker who will be caring for your dog.

Please note: Our Assessment Walk is a required, paid part of the onboarding process before regular walking or casual/vacation care can begin.

9

Can I cancel a booked walk?

We understand that plans can change, and we do allow cancellations for your dog's walk with us. However we have a cancellation policy in place with specific timeframes to manage our schedules and contractors effectively. Last-minute can impact our entire day and make it challenging to accommodate other clients. Generally, we require a 24-hour notice for most booked walks, while casual clients need to provide a 5-day notice. For detailed information, please check our latest cancellation policies. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us!

10

What if my dog pulls hard on the lead?

For dogs who love to lead the way (a little too enthusiastically), we offer our Leash Manners training program. These one-on-one sessions are designed to gently address leash pulling through customised, reward-based techniques.

We work closely with both you and your dog to build better walking habits, focusing on calm, connected movement and responsiveness. Your involvement is key: we’ll guide you through practical strategies to reinforce progress between sessions and help your dog thrive on every walk.

11

Do you walk dogs on their own?

We offer dog walking on a “Solo” basis through our service called “Adventure Solo". This option is perfect for those who prefer a one-on-one walk, ensuring your dog feels calm and focused without the distractions of other dogs. Additionally, we incorporate gentle desensitization training during the walk to enhance your dog's experience.

(All Local Lap walks are solo) What's the difference?

One is and adventure and starts from the park, beach or bush, Local lap is strictly from the home only.
